BHUG Aviva groyne grant application declined

Those of you who kindly voted for the Aviva groyne grant application should have now heard directly from Aviva that our application has been declined. No reason has been given although I have asked them.

This is most disappointing after all the work that went into the application and for all those who kindly voted for the project  which got us as far as the finals. Aviva say that of the 800 applications who did get into the final, 550 were selected for grants.

Even though we did not get our applied for grant, Aviva have kindly given us a special grant of £500 to “recognise our achievement”.

As far as the Groyne project itself is concerned, negotiating a contract with a consulting engineer to do the design work has taken rather  longer than expected  but we hope that this will be concluded shortly. We will then go out to tender and then we will be in a position to start the funding campaign.

The target start date is still 1 April 2018 but there is still a lot to do.
