The Redwings enjoy and active summer season in Bembridge, and some 25 of these boats head to Cowes to participate in Cowes Week.

Steeped in history, the Bembridge Redwing is a classic meter design known for his experimentation with rig design. The current fleet consists of some 35 one-designs, measuring 27 ft 11″ LOA (8.5m), 5 ft 6″ (1.68m) beam, 3 ft 3″ draught (1m) and restricted to 200 square feet of sail area. The Class has been dedicated to development since formation, and celebrated its centenary in 1997.

The first design was produced by Charles E Nicholson and built by Camper & Nicholsons, with a build of some 15 boats. Since then the class has gone from strength to strength. The hull design of the Bembridge Redwing has changed three times in its over 100-year history.

Racing remains vibrant from April through September off Bembridge.
