Weekend Sailing Report (2nd & 3rd July)

Sadly not a very good weekend’s racing for the Redwing & One-Designs. With a number of the One-Design helms entered for the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race on Saturday and with the South Westerly breeze forecast to be gusting F6, neither class left their moorings.big grin (1)

However, as predicted, conditions on Sunday morning were significantly nicer and although disappointingly there was only one One-Design crew so they decided not to race, nine Redwings headed out towards Janson in the SSWerly F3 breeze for a race.  Unfortunately there was a timing error at the start and although the race ran its course, because half the fleet had started a minute behind the rest, it was decided back at the Club that the only fair result was for the race to be declared null & void.   A pity as Colin Samuelson in No 11 Toucan who had started a minute after Rupert MacInnes in No 2 Avocet had a very close race with Rupert just crossing the finish line in front.   Jonathan Nainby-Luxmoore in No 5 Snow Goose who had started at the same time as Rupert was third to cross the line.
